Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
As a nurse practitioner with extensive experience in neurosurgical care, I bring a unique perspective of clinical team member expertise with a patient-centered approach that would contribute to the strategic goals of the Association. Serving on the board would provide an opportunity to advocate for advancements in neurosurgical policy, enhance patient outcomes, and promote the integration of interdisciplinary care teams. I am passionate about ensuring that the voices of healthcare providers are heard at a state level and beyond. With a strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery and supporting continued education and innovation within the field of neurosurgery, I am eager to collaborate with fellow board members to drive positive change and to shape the future of the specialty.
What are you goals for the organization, and how would you help achieve them if elected to the Board?
My primary goal is to foster a collaborative environment that supports the professional growth of neurosurgeons and their teams and advancing the field of Neurosurgery as a whole. I believe that this organization plays a crucial role in supporting public health and community education as well as bringing clinical teams together for the purpose of networking and development best practices which can directly improve patient outcomes.
If elected to the board, I would work toward enhanced education and training through improving access to hand on training and collaborative learning opportunities. One of the greatest strengths of a professional association is the ability to connect with its members. I would work to increase opportunities for networking including digital platforms and mentorship programs. Neurosurgery is an area that greatly benefits from innovation and research. I would advocate for increased funding and support for research initiatives within the field. This includes promoting partnerships between academic institutions, healthcare organizations and industry to bring novel ideas to the forefront and enhance clinical practice. Lastly, I am committed to representing the interests of neurosurgery at the policy and legislative level. I met with individuals in congress last month to advocate for top of scope APP practice and reimbursement. Advocating for improved healthcare policies, addressing reimbursement challenges and ensuring that the voices of neurosurgery providers are heard in the discussions that affect our practice and patients.
By working with fellow board members and leveraging our collective expertise, I am confident that we can make great strides toward achieving these goals. I am committed to contributing my energy, ideas and passion to ensuring the continued success and growth of the Michigan Association of Neuro Surgeons.
