Hassan Fadel, M.D. is a current chief resident at Henry Ford Health in Detroit. Dr. Fadel's clinical interests include advanced neurosurgical oncology, emphasizing the surgical use of new and emerging technologies. His research describing novel insular glioma treatment was recently featured on the cover of the Journal of Neurosurgery. Dr. Fadel was born and raised in Michigan and is a proud but hardened Detroit sports fan.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
As Chief Resident at Henry Ford Health and an active participant in Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons (MANS) events throughout my training, I am driven to serve on the MANS Board of Directors to elevate resident education and shape the future of neurosurgery in Michigan. My firsthand experience navigating the demands of residency—from intensive training to career development in an evolving healthcare landscape—fuels my commitment to advocate for innovative educational initiatives and robust professional
development opportunities. I aim to strengthen MANS’s distinguished programs, fostering an environment where residents thrive as skilled, adaptable, and forward-thinking neurosurgeons.
What are you goals for the organization, and how would you help achieve them if elected to the Board?
As a candidate for the MANS Board of Directors, my goals are to elevate resident education, strengthen professional development, and foster collaboration to advance neurosurgery across Michigan. I aim to achieve these objectives through the following initiatives:
1. Advancing Resident Education
- Develop longitudinal mentorship programs and networking opportunities to connect neurosurgery residents with experienced faculty, fostering skill development and knowledge exchange.
2. Strengthening Professional Development and Collaboration
- Build on the success of MANS’s annual bootcamps by introducing year-round collaborative platforms, enabling residents to engage in ongoing discussions about research, practice patterns, and career opportunities.
- Organize regular social and professional events to cultivate a dynamic community where members can share insights, collaborate on projects, and explore job prospects.
If elected, I will draw on my experience as Chief Resident at Henry Ford Health and my deep commitment to MANS to drive these initiatives, amplifying the organization’s impact and empowering the next generation of neurosurgeons to excel in a rapidly evolving field.
