Elected Neurosurgeon Board Members hold full voting rights and are required to maintain an active, paid membership with the Michigan Association of Neurosurgeons (MANS). They are expected to attend board meetings, participate in decision-making, and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization.
Full Bio of Michael Karsy, MD, PhD
Michael Karsy, MD, PhD is a board-certified, Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Health – Sparrow and the Director of Clinical Programs and Quality. He has fellowship training in the areas of complex spine and neuro-oncology/skull base.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board of Directors?
My interest would be in facilitating collaboration among the neurosurgeons in Michigan by sharing best practices, challenging cases, and increasing collegiality. I am eager to help the organization continue to grow.
What are you goals for the organization, and how would you help achieve them if elected to the Board?
I would help support the annual MANS meeting by soliciting sponsors and aiding the education curriculum. I would also aim to improve resident involvement in the MANS meeting.
